pets?

My dog, Oscar, is the best little MONSTER! He's a Jindo (from the chow and akita family). I grew up with dogs, the doctors never told me anything bad about having pets. I've had Oscar for about a year; the last time I was in the hospital some resident doctor wanted me to get tested to see if I was allergic to dogs (I've never shown any symptoms of being so, but I don't think this doc knew much about CF. In fact I know he didn't because he told me he had to review his med books to refresh his memory on CF!). I told him it wouldn't do any good because even if the test said I was allergic, there was no way I would give up my dog!!

My husband has CF and we have 2 cats and 2 dogs, a regular old zoo at my house! His entire life his doctors have said that his CF isn't really a factor for or against pets, but moreso would be if he had athsma in conjunction with it, hayfever, allergies and things like that. We do have a "sufficator" cat too that likes to lay on or near your face and neck, but he has learned his lesson with my husband-you can only be thrown off someone (and spanked) so many times before you get it-even for a cat <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My husband also doesn't clean the litterbox because pouring more litter in makes a dust cloud and coughing attack... but other than that, we are going on 4 years with an animal and no problems yet.

We have 3 cats and a dog. The kids don't have any problems with them. I actually think it's helps them, it teaches them how to be responsible and to take care of someone. Just as they have to take care of themselves. I think pets are wonderful, it helps to make a house a home

I've always had pets. At one time, we had as many as 6 dogs in the house (and I'm not talking tiny toy dogs... most of them were golden retrievers). I've also had cats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, etc etc. Doctors know about it, and don't care.

We have 1 cat (sam I am green eggs and ham). It says that on his little certificate from the vet. HeeHee. Sam for short. Anyway CF doc said no problem. I did have a dr once tell me to get rid of it. But we didn't. He's my boyfriend boy. Like a dog he sits near the door waiting for Brian to get home. Not me though. He doesn't care about the person that feeds him. Enough rambling....

I've never had pets. Not really because of CF in itself, but because of allergies, and also, living in NYC when I was younger, most buildings had a no pet policy anyway. I love dogs, but am allergic to cats. Now that I'm older, I don't really have a large enough desire for a pet to get one. I think though, with CF alone (no allergies/asthma) pets are not a problem.

Kylie - I didn't even know what a jindo was until we got him - he was a pound puppy! I don't think I will ever get a different breed now.

we have 2 dogs, I have a pomerian that I "took" from my ex-wife and a 110lb American Bulldog. We has a cat that we rescued from the cruel WV winter a few years ago. My baby bull is my pride and joy he is 2 years old and a manly mans dog. His grandad is Chase from homeward bound.

Oh yea, they have no effect on my CF, sometimes they severely effect my blood pressure though!
