FEV1 three months ago: 90%

FEV1 yesterday: 81%

Is that significant? I fluctuate a lot and have been coughing more than normal so I figured they were down. I didnt think they would be below 80, so I guess thats a good number. I am going back on AZLI, so hopefully that will help. My doctor didnt seem concerned, but I wanted to see what you all thought. Is 9 percentage points a lot in three months?

Everything else seemed fine. He said my lungs sound good, there is good air movement and no crackles (which there is never really anyway). My weight was the same or even a pound higher than normal.

Thanks.

I deleted the other message for you Caitlin!

IMHO 9% is a big drop...if you did that every 3 months that would be 36%

Given that you "feel" ok maybe its allergies, inflammation. Do you address either of these???

my doctor growing up always said any drop was a concern, over 5% points was a problem. granted he was a pediatric doctor and adults may fluctuate a little more than kids normally, but i would still definitely be concerned about a 9% drop.

agree with mel on the allergies/inflammation call. beyond that, if you're switching (or starting) inhaled abx right now then it may make sense to wait and see how the change affects your numbers, but is there any way you can schedule a follow up with your doc in a couple of weeks to make sure it's helping?
