PICC woes

I have had piccs in the past that hurt all the way up my arm similar to what you describe. No matter how you look at it, a catheter does not belong in a vein up your arm. I can imagine some have an easier time with them than others. I've had ones that i wouldnt even know they were there and ones that wouldnt let me have a moment of comfort. I only do midlines or peripheral iv's now. No more piccs for me if i have any say over it.

I know that sometimes Austin will complain that he can't straighten his arm out with the picc in but most of the time he acts as if nothing is in there.

He did have a reaction to the tape this time his site was itching like crazy and he had a rash all over with little pimple like bumps. The iv nurse cleaned it all up and put benadryl on it and changed to a different tape and it is looking good so far. But of course i can't see under most of the tape.

I felt like my first picc last fall was "botched." this picc that I have now is working out great, but the other one sucked. It's NOT normal to be hurting that much, but I'm not sure what can or can't be done about it. I'm sorry that it hurts. Maybe you can take some asprin for the blood thinner qualities and maybe that'll help it?
