Playing guitar with CF fingers

I am an adult with CF and have recently started playing guitar. It's great fun but I am finding playing chords extremely difficult. My fingers are very clubbed and I was wondering if this had anything to do with it? I am keen to hear about the guitar playing experiences of others out there with clubbed fingers and would much appreciate any tips to help out. Thanks.

dont have any advice for the clubbing but be prepared for your strings to turn green. i used to play classical guitar at school and my typical salty cf sweat turned the strings green!!!!

Guitar is difficult, but the clubbing shouldn't stand in your way. I'm sure the chords will come with practice and a little adaptation. Django Rheinhardt had only two fingers on his left hand, and he became...er, Django Rheinhardt!

Kylie, so true. I love those gross strings. They mean I've actually been playing!

My fingers are a little clubbed but it doesn't really affect my playing...sometimes chords are a little tougher but practice makes it easier. I think of the guys who play and have bigger hands than me and it gives me no excuse. Keep rockin! What kind of guitar are you playing??

I wanted to learn the guitar, or even piano (Mom wouldn't let me learn to play the drums!)
However, even though I had learned a little about playing a Viola in elementary, then Trombone, I really didn't seem to feel cut out for learning an instrument--I guess I'll just have to settle with playing the radio!!

As for clubbed fingers, and strings turning green...I didn't think the fingers would be such a problem for guitar, but as for the color of the strings, would there be stainless steel strings?? I know it'll be expensive, but I'm sure you know the green coloring is the reaction of the copper to the salt. As far as building calouses, that shouldn't make a difference for the fingers, right?
