Playing outside in the cold.

yea I do the scarf thing outside too. Honestly- I hate to be frank, but the way I look at it- it's going to get worse no matter what you do. Just a fact of life. You can let him have fun now or you can keep him inside for later- still not knowing if it's helping or not. for me anyways outside is better than inside because of all the dust mites and allergens inside that no matter what you do you just cant' get rid of. Everyone always says- you're only a kid once. misewell enjoy it.

I have a children's fleece face mask (I'm petite) for frigid/windy days. Not sure how comfortable it would be to play in but it does warm the air you breathe. I was diagnosed with CF as an adult but since I often had a cold/cough as a child my mom used to wrap my scarf over my nose and mouth. Here is the mask:

Down coats that cover the neck area are great too, I just bought one from Lands End.

I don't know if these come in kids' sizes, but I have 2 of their regular allegy masks- one child, one adult (love them, btw), and I can wear them both, even though I am "petite" too. Maybe the patterns would make it fun to wear?

My parents just tossed me out in the snow, too (we lived in Ohio when I was 4 and 5 years old), and made me come in for potty/cocoa/lunch/tv (whatever it took, lol) breaks, but I was basically asymptomatic for lung issues at that age...

Paula, right this minute my boys are doing the Boy Scout Klondike Derby (pulling bobsleds and competing in survival events). The ground is snow/ice covered, its 22 out with a wind chill and they're having a blast!

I am thrilled they are healthy enough to compete. It makes them feel so good about themselves, I have to bite my tongue about the risks.
