Please help! CF rashes?

Hello. My sister is 25 and was only diagnosed with CF 3 years ago. She cannot work and has been dealing with the lovely medicaid system which she fights tooth and nail to even receive any benfits. She was recently "kicked off" and cannot see a doctor. She started to get these strange small rashes on her body. Small flat, turn red when she is hot, but are usually beige in color. They seem to be multiplying. She also keeps complaining of a pain in her back that is travelling down through her buttocks into her leg. She says this is excrutiating. I'm not sure if anyone with CF has had this strange rash problem. Any insight anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

If it is as urgent as it sounds, take her to an emergency room. They have to treat her even if she does not have health insurance. Worry about the bill later... It sounds like something could be seriously wrong.

I've had something similar happen to me twice (i'm 18 and have CF by the way!).

For me, it began as an overall feeling of "ickyness" as if i was coming down with the flu. I had the chills, developed a fever, and experienced severe aches all over my body...but generally it was usually the worst around my ankles, toes, knees and hips. Then within about 12 hours of the onset of the chills/fever, etc, i developed these quarter sized, red, slightly raised "splotches" that hurt to the touch, and they only appeared on my legs.

Long story short, i went to my pediatrician at the time about this problem, and after searching through several books about skin rashes he came up with a Dx...something called Erythema Nodosum. In the book it said that it occurs in patients with sarcadosis (a lung disease if i'm not mistaken), so it wasn't a huge shock to me.

Other than taking pain medication or tylenol to control the fever, you just have to wait it out. Mine usually went away in about 3 days or so.

Run this by your sisters doc....its a possibility....hope to have helped!

I posted the previous message and I was incorrect...sarcidosis isn't a respiratory diseases...but look at what I turned up...
