Hello. I am a 33 yr old female. I am having my sweat test tomorrow and just completed major blood work today. I was surprised to hear the doctor stating that he was testing me for cf since I have always thought this was something that was diagnosed in childhood.

I have had 3 friends with this disease. One died at 9, the next at 17 and the last at 19. All of my friends were quite thin and frail. I am actually overweight. I have always had breathing problems and constantly have a ton of mucous to deal with in my lungs. Some times I can cough some of it up, other times my lungs actually hurt and I have to have someone hit my back to help me loosen it. No matter what meds my doctor has given me, I can never seem to get rid of the mucous or the annoying cough. I also have greasy bowel movements. Those are really the only symptoms I notice except extreme exhaustion.

I used to get terrible lung infections and almost died several times. I have been extremely healthy in the last couple years, so I just confused. If anyone around my age or older could offer some opinions on any of my content, I would greatly appreciate it. God Bless.

I have heard of quite a few people that were not diagnosed w/ CF until their 30's. There are different severities of CF and you may have a mild case.
I'm sure they are testing you to rule out CF because they've probably thought of every other possibility.
Try not to get too stressed about it. If you do happen to have CF, there are a whole lot of meds out there specifically for CF that will make you feel so much better with both lungs & digestive.
Please let us know what you find out and God Bless<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
