Pleurisy

I was just diagnosed with pleurisy for the first time. It hurts the lower left part of my back when I breath in - an x-ray showed pleurisy. I also have a low grade fever of 100.0. I saw my PCP, not my CF doctor (my CF doctor told me to do this). My PCP told me to just take 2 Aleve a day and wait it out.

However, my husband and I are trying to conceive, and I know that Aleve, Advil, etc. are not ok to take while trying to get pregnant. I asked my doctor about this, and he said "well, you can just take Tylenol, if you want to play it safe."

I left a voicemail with the nurse at the CF center regarding my diagnosis & treatment, but I am curious to hear what others have done to treat pleurisy. Am I putting myself at risk by just taking tylenol (instead of an anti-inflammatory?)

Also, how long does it usually last? (it came on suddenly last night)

Pain pills and waiting it out is how I treat it. Some people get antibioticsas well, I think. I think most people say it lasts two or three weeks.

i think an anti-inflammatory would help treat the pain better, but I don't know if it has any affect other than that.

I had it many years ago, before I was diagnosed with CF. My recollection is that I was put on antibiotics and maybe a few other things.
