pleurisy

I've had pleurisy on my left side for over a month. I've tried
ibuprofen, 800mg a day, and also Aleve for a few days (not at the
same time.) It hasn't gone away. Any suggestions. I know
prednisone is a possibility but I'm sure the docs want to avoid
that. <br>

I had this once and the doctors gave me ciproxin for it along with difene for the pain. I thought that Ibuprofen was only a pain killer and wouldn't help with the infection? Never heard of prednisone, hope this helps.

I should add, that while I do have some pain, the scraping, rubbing
type feeling I get while breathing is more annoying. It feels kind
of like a wheeze, but the docs say it is pleurisy.

Okay I just looked up Pleurisy. I have been having a terrible pain in my one lung for about a month, and I had pnemonia in December so I kind of fit the description for pleurisy. Anyway my point is I have been trying to control the pain by taking ginger (for inflammation) and using hot towels each night- it seems to help. I am also taking Oil of Oregano drops- maybe this is helping prevent it from getting worse- not sure but that is what I am doing-

My husband had that and it hurts! I'm sorry you have it! They gave him some pain killers and then some anti-inflammatory med. I don't remember what it was, but it happens because there's inflammation in there. I should have my husband give you a better explaination. I'm at work but I'll talk to him when I get home!

When I had it, it was very painful, every breath hurt. The difene was an anti inflamatory pain killer. I was told that it is an infection in the space between your lungs and your ribcage that's why they prescribed the Ciproxin.
