Tonya,

My husband had pneumonia a couple years ago. He had not run a fever but had an awful deep cough. I could feel the fluid in his lungs by just putting my hand over his chest. He had been treated with antibiotics, needed two rounds of them for some reason. I did do manual CPT on him at night a couple times to help him get the stuff up and I made him use Maggie's compressor for an albuterol neb(used a disposable neb) At the time I was utterly stressed out. I remember my husband coming home from the doc's saying"I have pneumonia" My response" Great, what did you do that for" I think when my husband was really hacking, we tried to keep him away from Maggie, but that's easier for an adult to do. Maggie did not get pneumonia from him but she did get a virus or something around that time and ended up on anti's too.

I am dealing with this right now. My daughter was diagnosed with pneumonia a week ago Friday. They have put her on oral antibiotics. She has a very rough cough. I was very concerned about her obviously, but also concerned about myself. I have not been touched by it and my CF clinic was not very concerned about it either. Just take the usual precautions (no sharing and lysol). Keep on eye on your little CFer. I think things will be fine.
