Pockets of Pneumonia?

Mark has been in the hospital four days. He was just diagnosed with bronchiectasis last week, and they believed his lungs had pockets of infection. Now, his doctors think some of the pockets also have pneumonia.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? How was it treated if you have?
He's getting another PICC line put in today (4th since September), and is on Tobi and Zosyn. They said they mostly want him to focus on chest pt.
Thanks for your help!

Hmm... I had this once I think back in November my docs said I had a new "nodule" on my right side and he described it almost as like a concentrated pneumonia. All I did was my regular routine of extra CPT and antibiotics and in a month it was gone. They said something about possibly going in with a needle to get a sample if it hadn't gone away only b/c a bronch to that spot would already be contaminated so you wouldnt be able get a clean sample of just that spot. I dont know what they would have done after that.
I asked if that would have to be removed, like the lung, and he said no there wasn't a point to that.

Anyways, thats all I can think of. I do have cysts which are pockets full of air and mucus that aren't going anywhere, they just arent in a spot to be drained I guess, or something like that. and my docs did make it clear that the cysts and the nodule were different things b/c at first I thought they were the same.
