Anybody have any suggestions for alleviating the insane itch and irritation caused by traditional port dressing "tape"? Even after it's removed, my skin is irritated for weeks <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Garran complains about itchies after and during his IV's. We use the Medifix tape its cloth like and goes over the tegaderm. When he gets it removed we use the orange stuff that they have in the hospital and it gets rid of the excess glue fromthe tape. then he just washes it normal and is fine. maybe try the orange stuff?

There is a skin protector that you can put on. It goes on after the area has been cleaned etc, but before the dressing itself is replaced. Its a swab like the cleaner itself. It has worked great for me.

My home health nurses had to start using it because I was reacting to a few things in the PICC line dressing area. I dont know the name of it.
