Port irritation

Hey,

I've been on IV since the middle of July and the last two weeks that I've gotten my needle reaccessed, the skin under the plastic is SUPER itchy and a little blotchy. I'm assuming that it may just be irritated from being changed so much, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has this issue with theirs sometimes?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, I always have irritation from the dressing when I'm accessed. Not the best part of IVs, is it?

Hope you feel better soon!

I have really sensitive skin, so I am always itchy any time my port is accessed. If you are currently using tegaderm, you might want to ask your home care company to try IV 3000. It is much less sticky but still does the job. I am also allergic to chloroprep, so they just use alcohol on me.

Hope this helps!
