Hey everyone, thanks for the prayers and thoughts, they worked! The port placement went very smooth. They even started an IV on the first try! They were actually able to place the new port in the same place as the old one, using the same track and all, therefore, there was less cutting, tunneling & trama. I am sore and bruised, but not as bad as I would be if they had to start from scratch. Coughing and CPT sucks to due...it hurts. My sats were good, but they still put me on oxygen as precaution. I did feel some of the procedure, they had to keep locally numbing me and giving me medicine. I got quite a good amount of sedation. I have some pain medicine. Right now I am at my mom's house (she came and got me, I didnt drive). They put a Power-Port in. It's not round, but triangular. I even got a card to carry around in my purse. The main difference between this port and an regular port is that you can put CT contrast in it without worrying about the cath not handling the pressure. I can also have blood drawn from it without the worry of wear and tear like my last one. It is accessed and maintained the same as the regular port. It is also suppose to be a low-profile port. After it heals, if there is a visual difference between round and triangular ports, I will post a picture. If anyone has a power-port, can you share any information you know about it? I have never heard of one until they put it in. Please forgive any spelling or grammar mistakes, I do have pain meds in my system.
