Port Surgery

You will like your new Power-Port! I had one placed in April. It's my 7th port. The trianglar shape makes it much easier to access them my other ports. After the swelling goes down You'll feel 3 "Palpation Points", just poke the needle in the center. My old port never got good blood return, but so far the Power-Port has.
Don't get to excited about using it for CT contrast scans. Most hospitals won't use them. I've had 5 contrast scans since May. Only once could I use the port & it messed up the results. I was disappionted when I found out I still had to be poked for an IV each test because my vain are shot.
I love ports, but haven't had much luck with them. My last port snapped in two when it was being removed. Part of the tubing was stuck in me. Thankfully the doctor was very skilled. He managed to "lasso" the broke piece, pull it down threw my stomach & out a hole in my groin. I'm very blessed that the procedure worked as it is very, very bad to have unattacked objects floating threw your body.

Thanks for busting my bubble! lol, j/k. I really dont do many CT Contrast anyway, so that's not a main reason for it. I use my ports for IVs. I am more happy about the fact they can pull blood off of it (which the last two, the surgeon said not to) and if I ever need blood, they can use it in the transfusion. Where I live, they probably wouldnt have a clue what a power port is anyway. So, to be on the "safe side" they would refuse to use it. So I wasnt holding my breath for the contrast use.

Anyone wants to know what a Power Port looks like, I found this on the manufactures website...

Hey Danyell ,

I am so happy that the port placement went well <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

It's kinda funny how we get excited over something like a new port that is a different shape, and can be used in different ways <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0"> ~

Take care and God Bless ~ <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0"> joni
