They tried to give me one when I was a kid, but I refused, strongly
so ( I think maybe I involved some verbal threats and threats of
violence) <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> . I had a nurse we know give me venflons when on IVs
(four times a year). Then I figured I'd rather do it all myself.
Since I was 17 or so I have done all IVs, including placing
venflons myself. Now I just use butterflies two times a day when on
IVs.<br>

I'd rather do the sticking myself than have someone else do it, as
I am still (for some reason) rather freaked out about other people
giving me shots. Doing it myself though does not scare me the least
bit. It's easy, it's quick and you can do it all in the comfort of
your own home. I pick up all the supplies and meds at the pharmacy
and do the rest myself.

I have had my port for about 6 years, and it is great. It
does hurt for a few days after they place it, but it is so nice.
I have no veins, so they can draw all my labs from it.
I access it myself now whenever I have to go on IV
antibiotics.<br>
