Hi

All I can say is, just take one day at a time, take each step as it comes. The treatments will begin to fall into place, and you will work out a routine.

Dont try to look too far into the future, it might never happen! My kids are almost 30 and 28,and we were told they would die before they became teenagers. They have enjoyed good health.

Everyone with cf is different. You can get support if you feel overwhelmed, by us at least.

Also, with regards to you appointment, you will meet the team, they will show you how to do physio, what foods to give, talk about poos and coughs.

They will probably want a baseline chest xray and maybe want you to collect poo for a few days to see if it has oil in it. They also might want bloods for vitamins checks, maybe gene check, liver function. I dont live in the US, so others might be able to comment more. I think you will feel better about it after you go to the clinic.

Thank you all so much. It's such a relief to know that I'm not loosing my mind, and that things will level out before long. I can't wait until our Appt tomorrow, as I know that it will be such a help in making some sense of everything. Is there anything that I should be doing personally, or in my home to make things easier on her and us?

I am so sorry about the test results. It's a good idea to bring a notebook to the first clinic since they will be going over a zillion different things and your mind is still realing from the diagnosis so if you write it down you can go over it later. I've also heard that it's a good idea to take someone with you so that you have two people who've heard the conversation so they might remember things you don't remember. If you are planning to take your older child with you, then I would definately have someone else go with you to occupy your son. They will probably take some blood to do genetic testing and testing for vitamins so you might want to prepare yourself for that. It hard to see your little baby get blood drawn the first time.If you do a search on here for "first visit" or something like that you might pull up some old threads that discuss what to do and take with you the first time.

Good idea about the notebook. I always try to do a little research before my clinics (about trying different treatments or whatever) and then write out some questions beforehand. It is easy to forgot what you wanted to ask when the conversation goes off on a tangent. Welcome!
