Amy,

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is in the U.S. It is in Pennsylvania,

Do most hospitals in Canada do lung tx? No. I am not sure off hand how many do, but not every hospital does it. Toronto General, Edmonton, and a few others up in Canada it.

Another update:

"Martha had was taken off the ventalator last night at around 5 PM. She is breathing all on her own and she was even able to speak a little. She was in good spirits asking questions, joking and even a few painfull laughs! She was feeling a bit of pain during my 8:30 PM visit and her hands keep swelling so her fingers do not work...trying to get the doctors to fix this! All in all things are great, Martha's emotions go up and down but that is to be expected. I hope Martha will move from ICU to Recovery before next week and I hope she will be able to leave the Hospital in a few weeks.

Thanks to everyone for keeping us in your thought and praying for Martha. Biggest thanks to the wonderful person who made the choice to donate their lungs and gave Martha a new shot at life. - Jesse."

Update:

"Martha is doing great so far...only minor issues. She is still unable to use her hands and the doctors are still not able to figure out exactly why, but they are working on it. She had 2 of the 4 chest tubes removed last evening.

She has walked a bit and will be walking the halls of the hospital today with the help of a physical therapist. Her breathing is awesome, she is having to learn how to breath all over again.

The progress she is making is amazing. They think she will be able to leave the hospital to go stay with her mom in 8-10 days. They think if things stay on track she will be home in Chattanooga in a couple of months.

Martha wanted me to thank everyone again for all your thoughts and prayers...the were certainly answered! - Jesse"
