Prednisolon can do a lot for you.
But my CF doctor wasn't for it, for me. I was really a last resort for me. I was in a very bad condition and my doctor was afraid the Pred would make me feel better while I wasn't better at all. And that this would make me do more, that wouldn't be good for me cause I needed all the energy for my lungs. Hope this makes sense...

I did have two courses of Pred before my tx. I was on 20mg for 10 days. I think my doctor told me that there is like a standard that they give 0,5mg per kilogram.. I was a little more then 40kg so was on 20mg.. (Someone correct me when I'm wrong!)

Hope you'll feel better soon!

Do you do inhaled steroids (fluticasone which is what is in advair). The advantage of that is there are less systemic effects. That may help you if you aren't already on it.

I just came off a course of high dose prednisone for ABPA. Steroids do help a lot, but they aren't without their share of side effects. In the end I think it's a judgment call between you and your doc. Personally, I don't consider steroids unless I notice a drop in my PFT's and I'm not getting relief from bronchodilators and inhaled steroids (advair).
