Caroline,
What did Scarlett and Logan weigh when they were born? Did you have early labor or right on schedule? Also, did you have any uterine bleeding from coughing? I have had some bleeding in my uterus and some spotting. So far, Alex is okay, but my perinatologist says we definitely want to eliminate that.

Candice,
Wow, three different times with TOBI! It was IV not inhaled, right? I'm not sure about Fortaz, because I've not been on it before. Did you have any uterine bleeding while you were pregnant? I have had some and some spotting, due to my heavy cough and it scares me. My perinatologist says that the baby is okay, but we want to avoid bleeding. Easier said than done. Hopefully, with the treatment--only one more week to go--I will quit coughing so severely. Other than the fact that inhaled TOBI makes me cough. I wish inhaled Aztrium was on the market. I was in the drug study for that and after 15 years of having pseudomonas it disappeared. It's been about a year now and the pseudomonas is back though.

With Logan I had spotting on and off for about 16 weeks (I'd spot for a few days every few weeks). With Scarlett I had no spotting at all and I coughed A LOT (horrible asthma during pregnancy). Logan was induced a few days before my due date (due to the peri's request purely due to CF and looking back it wasn't necessary at all) and Scarlett arrived on her own a few days before my due date. I had no early labor with either of them. Magnesium deficiency can cause preterm labor and I made sure to stay on top of taking my magnesium through both pregnancies.

Caroline,
It's good to hear about the spotting--makes me feel safer. I've only had the spotting once, but what scared me the most was when the perinatologist told me about the uterine bleeding she could see.

I hadn't heard about magnesium. I'll have to check and see if my Aqua Adex covers the necessary magnesium intake. Did you just make sure you were getting 100% or did you do more than that?

I also just read that CFRD frequently causes preterm labor. Well, in the study I read, of the 26 pregnant CF women, 3 had CFRD and 2 of those had preterm labor. I do have diabetes, so that does concern me. Of course, if you are only looking at a sample of 3 women with CFRD, it's really difficult to get a really accurate picture. That's why I just posted a pregnancy survey. Maybe I can see if 67% is a true statistic for women with CFRD who have preterm labor.

Thanks,
Jeana
