Congratulations I became preg with Kiana the month after Alysa was diagnosed and I had the same mind-set as you did. Sick or not, I would love this child. If it was sick (turns out she was) then it would give my children a bond like no other siblings - they could love and support and UNDERSTAND each other in a way that my husband or I couldnt.

I am a firm believer that we are not given more then we can handle (even though it is hard to remember that theory at times LOL).

Good luck I am extremly happy for you <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

We too are having a completely unexpected and surprising pregnancy. In our case, M is adopted so CF is not a risk for us. But, when we brought M home, we made a concious decision that we were done having children, at least for a very long time, due to M's needs (not merely his CF but he has several other major issues as well). We actually sought out some highly reliable preventative measures for pregnancy.

End of May, we learned that our prevention not only failed but failed catostrophically.

It has been an interesting journey to me to learn that while you can be worried, stressed and reluctant about an actual pregnancy, you can be wholeheartedly in love with your unborn child and realize that in the moment you realize they exist, nothing else in this world matters but that they exist and you love them and you will be there to love them forever, no matter what.

Congratulations! Babies are an incredible blessing even when they surprise us by coming when we aren't expecting them.
