Hi, I have an eight week old little boy, Grayson, born 9/24/07. He was dx with cf at 20 weeks. We prayed, met with the cf pulmonologist & educated ourselves as much as possible in order to be ready for a cf baby. After he was born, the first visit to All Childrens Hospital to see the Pulmonologist was very difficult. He was only 3 days old!!! He was put on enzymes which we do mix in applesauce. He seems to take them really well. I just make sure we have a bottle ready to help wash them down. If you are breast feeding, be sure to ask your doctor if there are other ways to give the enzymes to your baby. We just found out that a syringe with a little breast milk and enzymes works well. Good luck to you.
Michelle~ mother of Madison, age 6, Morgan, age 11 & Grayson, 8 weeks w/ cf

Ashley was born with CF. She is my 3rd child. She was diagnosed at 18 weeks in my belly by amneo.
when she was born, no problems, and took enzymes with applesauce only starting with her once she started eating food. she took breast milk without enzymes.
Good Luck!
She is 4 1/2 now and has never been sick! Thank God!
she is a double delta f508.

I was scared at first - but she is so healthy. Yours may be too!

Hi I know this post has been here for awhile, thought I would offer a hint. I have seen bottles that you can actually put baby food in, this would probably work until he can take the applesauce from a spoon. When my son was an infant, we put them in a bottle with his formula. If I remember correctly, this did not work very well, the meds were always left in the bottom.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
As far as the MI goes, my son was born with this and his stomach was 3x's the size of his head. This, as you can imagine, was very painful. If they see the MI in an ultrasound, they will be able to take action before hand. We were surprised with his MI and the dx of CF. This was 15 years ago, and since then he has had some problems, but all in all, he is doing very well.
Good luck, this may seem so overwhelming right now, but it will all work out. Just remember, you and your son are both blessed to have each other.
