Thanks so much for the advice...I have a call into the doctor asking about Prilosec. It seems some others have had better luck with this brand too. Fingers crossed!

Wanted to update...We began Nexium last Friday (attempted to get Prilosec but of course our insurance doesn't cover). So far no complications, thank goodness! Only down fall (other than it costs more than Prevacid) is it is a lot more for him to get down, especially when I'm giving to him at 5 or 6 AM! We give him 10 mg daily mixed with 15 ml water. Luckily he seems to like it just as much as Prevacid, but after a little bit he gets tired of it and he just starts letting it roll out his mouth! So, tried one of those medicine bottles and it helps.

I also have a Mason and he is 11 years old. He as well as my 6 year old son are both on Prevacid and have had no problems. Mason was on Zantac then Prilosec which worked for a while but then we switched to the Prevacid and it works well for both of them. Good luck.

Well, once again we are experimenting! Nexium was causing Mason to be irritable during the day. Not wanting to take his 2nd feeding after Nexium, fussy, gassy, tired. So, doctor suggested switching the time we give to him. We were giving it in the morning (had been told this was best), so we tried evening, but he was very restless sleeping and woke about every 2 1/2 - 3 hours to eat or every hour to be held. BUT, was back to normal happy self during the day. We now are back to Prevacid, just being extra careful to give him in the strict time frame of 2 hours after a meal and 1 hour before next meal, but this time giving in evening. He still restless sleeping and waking about every 3 hours, when he had been sleeping every 4 to 5. Not sure if this has to do with giving the PPI at night or if it's something else. (We are waiting to hear back from X-Ray results to see if he is constipated). Our next option is to try Zegerid, this PPI can be taken with food. Has anyone tried Zegerid before, and what was your experience? Also, when do you give your PPIs, do you notice a difference if given in AM vs. PM?
