"<i>The goal in creating the art exhibition, Shvarts said, was to spark conversation and debate on the relationship between art and the human body</i>"

"<i>I think that I'm creating a project that lives up to the standard of what art is supposed to be</i>

Blasphemy<img src="i/expressions/devil.gif" border="0">....(<i>irreverence toward something considered sacred or inviolable</i>).....It's the best word to describe her exhibition and morals if it had taken place. I've studied art, nature, and the human body for several years and fail to see where a forced miscarriage fits into it. And what secret knowledge of art does she have that says there is a standard to be reached. Art only needs to live up to the standards or goals set by it's creator. All she wants to do is set the bar for shock value so high it's unlikely anyone would try to surpass this.

"Performance art" was also mentioned at some point in yales response. That's just a scapegoat for doing things that would have a normal person mentally evaluated. And creative fiction has a less flashy name when used to sugarcoat things like this.....lies. Obviously to cover yale's butt in case she really did do any of this stuff.
When does performance art reach it's acceptable limit?

"<i>Art major Juan Castillo '08 said that although he was intrigued by the creativity and beauty of her senior project, not everyone was as thrilled as he was by the concept and the means by which she attained the result</i>."

He's as clueless as her. Where is the beauty in this.??? ...where's the thrill in watching something like this? It seems like sharvts isn't the only one with issues to work out.
She Thoroughly thought this out knowing it would get a lot of attention and controversy even though it's seems to be a hoax. Why not some other scenario, why something this messed up. They really should check this girl out 'cause this whole thing is a red flag.
Doesn't anyone just use a pencil or charcoal anymore<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif" border="0">.

Art has always been used as a way to shock and provoke. Her idea is indeed provocative. As an artist I will defend her creative vision, even if I disagree with her medium (non-traditional art materials). In my opinion it's morally wrong and disturbing, but it is successful art if it is causing us to discuss it. That's what this artist set out to do.

Having said that, now I will say of course it is a hoax.

It probably has. Don't forget that historically artists have used body parts, both living and dead to study from. At the time, some of the "materials" were as shocking.
