Probiotics and Supplements

Hi! I'm looking for any advice on probiotics and supplements for my 14 month old. She chronically cultures PA, so we are on 28 day cycles of TOBI and have been since she was 3 months old. She has taken Cipro twice in 11 months and has been treated for several ear infections with Omnicef (sp?) Amoxicillin doesn't work for her. I'm just wondering if any of you have your children on any supplements/probiotics you recommend. Any help would be great!

Thank you in advance!

this is what i give my youngest. When he was Kadyn's age he would get 2 a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. This is what he got everyday.
If my boys were on antibiotics, I would actually give them culturelle <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.vitacost.com/Culturelle-Probiotic.">http://www.vitacost.com/Culturelle-Probiotic.</a> For some reason that worked really well when they were on antibiotics, but not on a day to day basis. Forget the kids culturelle, it only has 1 billion cells and would do just about nothing. The "adult" one comes in a capsule, so you can just empty it out into applesauce or yogurt or something.

blessings,
missa

I haven't started my daughter on probiotics...but do plan on giving them to her when she's on antibiotics. I used to give her DHA (fish oil) until being advised by her dietician that it may not be beneficial for individuals with cystic fibrosis. Individuals with CF don't assimilate these fats appropriately. While they are considered "non-inflammatory" and an aid to inflammation - this seems to apply only to individuals without CF. Unfortunately, I don't have the data to back up this statement.

I use this one. It is a powder with no flavor that I add to the juice.

I give my daughter probiotics and some type of omega 3 supplement. You can do fish oil, cod liver oil, or flax oil.</end quote></div>

I used to give my daughter flax seed oil too but here in France the local FDA advises against giving it to children under 3 so I stopped for now.

They are going to be adding a probiotic to Graycie's daily regimine due to the c diff and colitis. Hopefully this will keep her from getting c diff again from taking so many antibiotics. Learning something new everyday.
