Probiotics, How often? How long?

Emily takes a multi-strain probiotic twice a day. At first we just used it around the time she was on abx but we eventually switched to daily use when we noticed that it made a difference in her stools.

I have been using Acidophilus for years now, best thing I ever added I am on Bactrim 365 days a year, I take 2 pills every morning with my ABEKS and Bactrim, not sure how many units that is? but I must say a few times I've run out for a short time and feel the difference. I think it is a great idea to use them daily. Pat 55/CF

DD does Culturelle every morning. We don't stop it ever because of all the problems with C-diff. Culturelle contains Lactobacillus.

I take a dose of Culturel daily and twice daily when on oral antibiotics. On IV's in the hospital I take it three times a day. All on the reccommendation of the doc!

I am a lifelong yogurt eater and after I started getting sick I eat yogurt and a danactive like drink everyday. It helps keep away infections and digestive issues for me at least. The only time I don't eat probiotics is when I am on a oral antibiotic, since most of the anitbio would be spent on fighting the probio in the digestive tract. It works for me and I encourage you all to talk about this with your dr's! In other countries they actually prescribe probios instead of antibiotics(don't self medicate with it though talk to your dr.)
