Right now i am on the "Nature Made" brand. I got it at Giant food stores. Its pretty much a generic probiotic but it seems to be good.

Here are some resource on probiotics <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.cfnutrition4life.com/cfnu/articles.php?cat_id=5

We have used Culturelle and Jarrow brand probiotics. For very tough and persistent yeast infections and overgrowth ThreeLac (<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.candidasupport.org/threelac.html)">http://www.candidasupport.org/threelac.html)</a> is often recommended. We have our son on it daily because of the anti-inflammatory benefits and it helps with acidity and overall gut function. I take it daily because I get recurrent digestive and bladder issues due to yeast overgrowth. Diet changes really need to happen as well to help kill off the yeast. You need to cut out sugars (in all forms), breads and fermented products for a while and slowly introduce them back once it is cleared. Sugar, I would stay off of.

Two other natural products to try to keep yeast overgrowth at bay would be grapeseed extract or caprylic acid. You need to increase your water and fiber intake to flush out the yeast if you try these.

Golden Seal is great for yeast issues as well especially if they affect your bladder. Someone gave this to me once when I was in a full on bladder infection and away from home. It cleared it in 24 hours. It has anti-fungal and antimicrobal properties as well. I take it anytime I feel a vaginal or bladder issue coming on and it stops it from progressing.

Hope some of these things help...

I have been taking Culturelle for a few months- it really does seem to help, and the cheapest place I've found to get it is Walmart.

During and after my last round of Cipro, though, just the Culturelle and yogurt twice a day or so weren't helping as much as they usually do, and it was taking a while for my system to get settled again. I bought some unflavored and unsweetened Kefir, which has 10 different probiotics in it (I bought mine at Whole Foods, and I think Publix has it too- dairy section <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> ) and have been adding a tablespoon or 2 of it to my yogurt (straight, flavored Kefir doesn't sit well with my stomach for some reason ???, but yogurt I could live off of, lol), once or twice a day, and now am feeling better and back to "normal" after about a week <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .

Oh! I usually take mine (when I am on antibiotics) about 4 hours before my next med dose, so the med is at the lowest point in my system and the probiotics have time to "get settled" before the next round of antibiotic comes in and kills them off *sigh*. I don't know if that really makes a difference or not- that's just the way I've been doing it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .
