Problems Eating

I loathed eating when I was younger. It was always a power and control struggle between my mother and I. She was always pumping food into me every two hours. I dreaded meal time more than anything else. I was never allowed to eat just fruit for breakfast, or get a salad at McDonalds. I have since gotten better with eating when the subject stopped being a matter of control. I gained 20lbs on my own. but to this day I gag at the thought of a high calorie shake, and healthy, low calorie food is much more appealing to me than junk food. (grass is always greener on the other side i guess)
Now I just eat when im hungry, and try not to make eating a chore.

I went though this shortly after my diagnosis (15-18). Everyone was on my case to gain some weight and food just didn't sound good. There were a few things I enjoyed eating-- very few. Potato chips, dip and ice cream. My family made those food available to me all the time.

I think if everyone would have backed off, food would not have been quite the struggle. I finally got up to my optimal weight and food was okay then.

Now I have to remind myself to put down the fork.

I'm having similar problems with eating, but I don't have a feeding tube. Only in the past few months I've had trouble eating. I get nausea in the mornings more often than not so that makes breakfast difficult. I usually just drink an Ensure and maybe cereal if I can stand it. Eating has become a chore for me. Like, if I didn't have to eat, I probably wouldn't but i keep telling myself, you need these calories. That's the only thinig that keeps me shoveling food in my mouth. I'll probably be looking into a G tube soon. Good luck, I don't really have any sure ways to combat this to help you. Just know you're not alone.
