Prunning up fast

We have been at the pool all day & immediately I noticed Reeces' fingers to wrinkle up! I checked his toes..the same thing! We were in the pool about 2 hours....& when we got out his whole hand (top & bottom) were wrinkled up as were the tops & bottoms of his feet! Is this CF thing? I searched this before I posted a new topic...only a few people replied so I didnt know if it was a freak thing or what. Someone said that it COULD be used as a sign to digonose CF. Like tasting the skin to see if its salty. ( like a red flag I guess) Just wondering & do you think it could be harmful to stay prunned up for a long time? Thanks!

I have always, always prunned up real fast in the water....It always amazes me how fast it happens...I also dry out real fast as well.....

I in general don't have salty skin..... only when I am really sweaty...

Yes, my two kids with cf prune up real fast. I have seen a number of discussions about it in the past few years. Seems that it happens to a lot of cfers. I don't think doctors know much about it or have paid much attention to it.

Same here, Brady- our 5 yr old with cf prunes up quickly, I noticed that since he was a baby. My 3 other kids take a long time to prune up. It must be a cf thing.

My son with cf prunes up instantly. When he comes home from school first thing he does is kick off his shoes and socks and his feet are mucho pruned! Does anyone's child/adult with cf have hyperlineated palms? Just wondering.

Emily had her first ever experience in a swimming pool yesterday - LOVED it! I did notice that after ten minutes she was very pruney. This doesn't seem to happen in the bath, maybe its a cold water thing? I did wonder yesterday if it was a cf thing, so I had to laugh when I saw this thread today. She is also having a really bad case of "cradle cap" right now. She hasn't really been bothered by it since birth, Do you guys think it might be a salt loss/hot weather/cf related thing?

I've spent my whole life around pools and I can't say that I ave ever paid any attention to this...I think next time I go swimming I will check and see how quickly I get pruney, maybe compared to my son. Interesting.

My son gets really pruney really fast, even after a 10-15 minute
bath. My sister, who has a daughter without CF the same age as
my son, always laughs at how wrinkly my son's feet get when the
kids play in the pool together. They're always worse than her
daughter's. I never thought of it as being a CF thing
before.<br>

I always pruned really bad when I was younger and swimming, now I notice that I prune alot but don't pay attention to the length of time it takes.

I will add this though for the parents out there. When I was younger and I would be swimming all day I would get really pruney and would end up having sores on my hands and feet especially if I was in/at a pool with a cement deck. The skin gets so soft and it would just rub raw spots on my hands and feet, so you may want to keep an eye out for that. It is somewhat painful and uncomfy ... it least it was for me.

Im so glad that you brought up that you got sores when you were younger and spent all day in the pool! My twin boys who are twelve go swimming for about an hour, sometimes two and they too get sores. Last year both the soles of their feet and the palms of their hands would get tiny blisters all over them. I asked the Dr about them and he said he thought it was because their skin was retaining water? Never heard of that before. They also prune very quickly.

I prune up really quick and usually a bit more severe than most people. My kids at camp call me "monster hands" when we go swimming.

I prune up terribly & always have. I went to Cosmetology for one year & one of the reasons I didnt return was because I didnt like the feeling I had when my hands prune up. Of course in Cosmetology you hands are wet alot! I thought it had to do with dry skin from either the salt sweating out &/or dehydration!

The lines in the palm of the hand (some people call them "life lines"). My son's palms has 3 times the lines than my other children. Oh and the skin on his fingertips/toes constantly peel.
