We've been struggling with weight issues and FTT as well. That is why she takes all the enzymes. PLUS we were told that PS patients are MORE likely to suffer from pancreatitis later on and that enzymes will prevent that!!</end quote></div>

My son is PS (>500) and suffered just recently from pancreatitis. We were told that enzymes help during the period of pancreatitis but we were also told they WILL NOT prevent them in the future...!

All three of my kids are "sufficent" the lowest score being 350, but take enzymes. They are all vitamin deficient with floating poops so the elastase scores don't make sense. There is a big difference with the enzymes for us.

Thanks for all your replies. I will bring it up yet again with the cf clinic and see if we can try the enzymes to see if they make a difference. It has been about a year and a half since we did the tests, so maybe something has changed. I am willing to try just about anything to get him to gain some weight and then we have the clinic that just wants to complain about how thin he is with no real solutions <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0">.

From what I've been told it won't hurt at all. It's safe enough for kids (with permission) to put in there lunchboxes to take to school because if the other kids take it it won't hurt them. I know non cfers who take enymes as a dietary supplement.
