Hi everyone!
I have a couple questions about trying to keep pseudamonas under control. Are there any tub toys out there that you allow for tub time? I usually shower my daugher first, and then bathe my son when she's finished. I never share the water between them. Should I be cleaning out the tub inbetween their baths and should I be cleaning out the tub everytime they're both finished? I'm not sure if I'm doing enough when it comes to controlling this. Do you dry out the tub when you're finished?

They're easy questions, I guess basically I'm just curious what you guys do when it comes to controlling the pseuda. in the bathroom. I wonder if I'm not doing something that I should be...

I try to avoid bath tub toys with holes in them -- ones that shoot water, have squeakers. If DS does have one that can get water in it, I usually let him play with it and then it disappears. We had a collection of rubber ducks from Target that didn't have any drainage holes in them.

We don't have two cfers, but I do wash down the tub after one of us uses it, prior to his bath. We bathe in the morning, his baths are at night.

My advice is... don't sweat over it. There's pseudomonas IN the tap water. Nothing you can do can really to get rid of it. I guess not sharing a bath is a good idea. Only other thing I can suggest is throwing away any loofas. Pseudomonas LOVES those things.

My two girls with CF share baths. I never even thought about it being an issue.

They are only 18 months apart in age, and for petes sake, they were constantly stealing each others binkies, literally out of each others' mouths, when they were little! (even when they were sleeping, they would roll over and instinctively know where their sister was sleeping and without eyes open, pluck the binkie right out of the others mouth!) No matter what I did, I had a hard time of getting them to stop that at such a young age...until I finally just threw away the binkies!

Well, with that said, I too threw away any bath toy with holes in them. I gave them bowls and cups and spoons, and made sure that they were tipped over to drain as to not let water sit in them and grow who knows what. But bathing together really never crossed my mind as a problem. They loved to take baths together...giggled the entire time they were making a HUGE mess for me to clean up

My younger one, Hannah, cultured PA 18 months ago, and after a few rounds of Tobi and Cipro, she has been clear for about 6 months or so. My older daughter, Kayla, has (touch wood) never cultured PA yet. Now that they are older, they know not to drink or eat after each other, nor cough on each other-not that my kids would ever try to annoy their sibling by doing something like that! They do their vest in the same room, but on seperate couches. And so far they don't always culture the same things. I was very concerned about the PA when Hannah started culturing it...Kayla has more lung issues than Hannah, and I was worried that this was an automatic given that Kayla would catch it and cause her even more problems. But, so far so good.

It's tough when we have two (or more) kiddos with CF. You just have to make choices that you are comfortable with and what works for your family

Good luck...and by the way, your kids are adorable!!!
