pseudamonas question, especially between two CF siblings..

My son has cultured psuedomonas on and off since he turned one (4 yrs ago). My daughter has thankfully never cultured it. They did share baths when they were younger; it never occurred to me that they shouldn't. I do make sure they don't drink after each other, have the right bath toys, etc. They often do their treatments in the same room. Not the best choice, but it is hard not to.

When I read questions like this I start to wonder if I am being a bad parent... the bathtub issue never occured to me either. Of course my daughters are 4 years apart, 9 & 13... and they don't take baths together... but I never clean the tub in between their baths or anything. And they do share a bedroom. They have seperate beds, but there are many nights when they end up in the same bed anyway... and they usually do treatments in the same room. I do forbid loofas in the house for the reason Emily said, but that's about it.

All this said, my 13 year old has cultured pseudomonias for over a year now (despite 3 rounds of IV's and TOBI every other month) and my 9 year old does not culture it (knock on wood).

I'm with Emily, don't sweat it. They live in the same house for goodness sake.

My boys always bathed together when they were young. We never bleached the tub or their tub toys. One kids grew pseudo, one didn't. Who knows why?
