pseudo and period

I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the stress your body is under when on IVs that causes the delay. The timing of a period is determined by when you ovulate. It you're under stress (or sick) ovulation is delayed. It may have to do somewhat which the chemicals in the drugs, but not as much as you might think.

I've always been regular as clockwork which has made birth control practically a non issue for us. Incidentally, I have an IUD, and my husband recently underwent a vasectomy.

There are so many variables in our health as CFers, particularly when it comes to reproductive issues. I strongly encourage sexually active CFers to be METICULOUS about birth control and overall compliance with their healthcare regime.

One thing I forgot to mention...

For me, my period is late whether I'm on IVs or oral antibiotics. Both have the same effect on my cycle. I am more like a 30-day-cycle. When on antibiotics, I am around a 40 - 44-day-cycle. Antibiotics really effect me.

hbollotte-on any given month under ideal circumstances there is only around a 25% chance of any one couple getting pregnant so just because you didnt get pregnant doesnt mean the antibiotics arent affecting your birth control. I have listed a source with the mechanism of action by whihc it is believed that the effectivenes off BC can be hampered, please read the 2nd paragraph.
