My husband mentioned that he thought that he cultured more than just PA, so I asked the clinic and he actually cultures three different "types" of PA. Anyone know anything about the different types and what this means? Here are the exact words from the clinic:

Organism 1 4+ Presumptive mucoid Psuedomonas aeruginosa type 1
Organism 2 4+Pseudomonas aerginosa type 2
Organism 3 4+ Psuedomonas aeruginosa type 3

don't know the exact nature, other than there are many different types of strains. i think i have about 4 or 5 strains.

whereas a rockstar like Chaggie has only 1, maybe 2. I dunno.

just like with the flu, there are multiple strains, same with bacteria. some mucoid, some not. some resistant to certain meds, some not.

that's the best i can give ya girlie <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I can't offer too much either. I know I have 3-4 strands, both mucoid and non-mucoid. As fas as I know they aren't resistant to any meds yet.

I'm curious to see what the 4+ means. It looks like he has 1 mucoid and 2 non-mucoid but I could be totally wrong!

I think I was told once that the 1-4 is referring to severity or concentration of the organism? I can't remember which is "best" though.... maybe someone else has better info. Sorry.
