Pseudomonas Aeruginosa 2 ?

Hi,

I recently saw the results of my sputum sample, and besides the usual Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, it also shows Pseudomonas Aeruginosa 2.

I go back to the Dr in 2 weeks, am already on Cipro, which the culture shows it is sensitive to. I'm not worried about the treatment, just curious if anyone knows what the 2 means, the internet doesn't seem to yield results.

Thanks

It means you've got more than one strain of Pseudomonas.
Maybe one regular strain and one mucoid one, although the report will usually say if its mucoid.
For instance, I have two mucoid strains in my sputum along with a regular strain. They are having a party down there...
