After three weeks and no chance to stop by the docs on the way home, I finally asked the wife to get my NAC refill and the results to my culture.

I don't know what (+3) is supposed to mean, but pseudomonas has popped in my life with a (+3) on the culture results.

I don't know if its coincidential or not, but the past week I've been with little appetite and noticed a 2kg drop in weight when I measured myself the other day.

I recall that with PA, I've had mild fevers and wonder if everyone with a high count for a PA culture would also have a mild fever and how high was the fever on the average?

My thermometer was broke, so I went to get a new one which certainly measures the body temp faster, it measured 36.9 C (I think 36.7 C is the normal body temp)

The wife said that vinegar (to drink) will kill PA, so she got a big bottle of "mango vinegar" online (of course). It hasn't arrived, but I expect soon.

I don't think the doc gave me any abx for the PA, and am wondering what the usual pill form for PA abx has been, lately.

Oh, and like in the days of HS when I had often cultured PA, I feel sleepy in the daytime and can take a nap and still sleep well at night .

I'm guessing my fatigue, low appetite, weight loss due to the low appetite and sleepiness has to do with the PA infection. Has anyone experienced a loss of taste and smell at the same time when they cultured PA? my sense of taste and smell sorta fizzed out about a week or two ago. Good thing, no "odd" smells around the house..Bad thing, can't taste the wife's cooking, or any cooking for that matter

With DS he was put on tobi nebs when he first cultured pseudo. He's been on zithromax (generic form) for the past 3 1/2 years. When he developed a fever, loss of appetite, sleepiness, cough a few years ago his doctor put him on Cipro for two weeks, which took care of the symptoms.

I get a mild fever when I have a flare-up. I'm actually having one right now - my temp is about 99.2 degrees F, technically not a fever, but higher than my temp normally is. I also get really tired, a little achy, and feel a bit like my head is swimming.

Hey 65rosessamurai - -

Fellow FDL-er here. 3+ is the amount of growth the PA has on a plate post dilution. The laboratory technician within microbiology will usually take some of your phlegm, and plate it out. They then take the PA off the original plate and plate it out more times at varying dilutions, wait a few days (can't remember if it is 3, 5 or 7), and then 'read' the plates. Read meaning that they determine if there is trace, 1+, 2+, 3+, 4+, or confluent growth. So, 3+ shows fairly heavy PA in your lungs which I would personally correlate to your symptoms right now. I had 3+ growth last fall and was very tired, all the time. Also had night sweats, generally feeling crappy. I took a round (30 days) of neb'ed TOBI.

I hope you are feeling better soon, and definitely work toward getting something to knock the buggers down.

Since I am posting, what did you mean by "Oh, and like in the days of HS when I had often cultured PA, I feel sleepy in the daytime and can take a nap and still sleep well at night." Do you mean, that while using hypertonic saline you were regularly colonized w/ PA?? Not sure what you meant by HS so I am curious.

I hope you are feeling better very soon.
