OOhh, found an article that describes P. mendocina as a pathogen recovered in BAL fluid from some patients with bronchiectasis Here's that link: http://content.karger.com/Prod...26558&ArtikelNr=29463

Granted they did not have CF, but it goes to show you that it can grow in sputum.

Hugs, Jenn

Thank u so much Jenn!!! I will read those. If you find anything else, please let me know. I really appreciate what you have found. You are better at searching than me . I have cultured some strange stuff before, one was Klebsiella Pneumoniae and Serriatia Marcecescens, I havent cultured those again. I have been coughing up blood streaked sputum for about the past 24 hrs. It wouldnt equal a cup or anything. Maybe a teaspoon total. I'm not sure if that is something I should be worried about or not. What do u think? Should I worry?

Here a website. It is Oregon Health & Science, Dept of Pathology Bacteria Database : http://www.ohsu.edu/pathinfo/orglist.php
It has a pretty big list. It doesnt have the one I am looking for, but interesting. It tells the name, morphology, gram strain, growth characteristics, test profile, description and sometimes a picture of the bacteria when it grows out. I just wanted to pass it on because it's a neat website.

Danyell, thanks for the link...as you can tell, I am into the micro stuff...have been since college even more so since my lungs became petri dishes!LOL!! I live to research, always looking for info on cepacia and other bugs. Actually, I forgot about S. marcescens...I grew that one only once and that was it. My normal bugs are PA, Steno, Cepacia (multiple strains) and Staph. Kind of like the mucinex commercial eh? As far as your symptoms...if it has been a bit since your last culture, then ask the doc to maybe repeat it and tell him how you are feeling. I find that alot of people feel differently with a new infection, I know when I am coming down with something because I feel very tired, cough more and my sputum grows legs! I will be happy to keep looking for you...hugs, Jenn
