I'm sure you could enter pseudomonas in the search engine on this website & find a lot of feedback. Here in the US, it's just a given that almost all CFers will get pseudomonas at one point in their life & you're right, you don't get rid of it, just knock it down w/ antibiotics when it acts up. It's really not the death sentence that some make it out to be.

it is true some people with CF "culture" certain strains of pseudomonas. However, we can get rid of them...assuming your not resitant, and then still not impossible. I have had cultures early in my life life with strains that I know longer have(done at an accreditted lab). Not to brag but I cultured cepacia years ago that has since then disappeared. Of course this one is explained by it must have been incorrectly typed. I also have had 2 other strains that were multi resistant that are now "gone". All I have to explain it is anibiotics, airway clearance, pulmozyme and jesus.

I have pseudomonas my myself, I try to exercise regularly and that seems to help prevent flare up's. I always have a months supply of Cipro on hand in case it does flare up.

my pulmonologist said that you can get rid of them too! He said usually when he has seen someone with it they never have the same type after treatments. He said they never culture the same kind in a row....

That does not mean that it is gone forever, it just means it is dormant in your body. Science proves that.

It's like HIV, you can have it for years and never know it, then suddenly it shows up on a test. It is just dormant for that period of time it is not showing up.

I also have CF and I caught psudomonas when I was 12 and it is true that you can never get ride of it I have been hospitalized about 20 times because of it. Usually because it flaires up and I don't know it and then I end up catching pnemonia. But it never goes away it only calms down.

Psuedomonas has many different strains, and depending on which one you have you might have a hard time with getting it cleared up. You can also die from certain strains. But folks psuedomonas is in the air. It grows on onions. Have any of you had an onion in your refrigerator longer than what is should have been? If you picked it up there was probably a slimy coat on it. That is pseudomonas... BEWARE OF VEGATABLES!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">:

Wow...I did not know that about onions!! I thought they were suposed to be good since they are so high in antioxidents....mann that puts a damper on eating them.....Hey is there anyone out there that gets sick if they eat lunch meats ...like turkey, ham, stuff that has been presliced and in packages? I just have to avoid that stuff....but i can at times eat a bit of deli sliced turkey if it is just been sliced and i eat it that day or the next...
