Sorry for being a bit confused but if he had no symptoms how did the doc detect it? Just curious for my own bub thats all.

Every appointment we go to they do a throat/sputum culture. See what grows and that's how they detect if ds is growing anything -- cepacia, staph, pseudo, mrsa, hib, enterbacter cholea....

Same with us...we go to clinic every 3 months and they do a sputum culture. He always cultures staph and that's how they caught the pseudo. This helps them keep track of the bacteria typically present so if they were to develop symptoms like weight loss or cough with no explanation, they have a leg up in what antibiotics they might prescribe.
