Pseudomonas

I was diagnosed at 3 months old with CF and in 2001 I grew out Pseudomonas for the first time. I've been on Tobi since on 1 month off 1 month since then. My Dr told me that it would never completely leave me. Once it's there, it is there for good but can be greatly suppressed with the Tobi so that it doesn't even grow when they do a sputum culture. If I don't take my tobi religiously, I develop a bad, productive cough. after just two doses of Tobi my cough is usually gone. I would highly recommend consulting your doctor and asking him to take a culture to see if it grows.

Thanks for the info. SOrry its taken so long to reply back. I have too much on my plate and just havent been able to get on my computer.
We will be ripping up carpets in the next few weeks. We want to make sure that he will not be around so we are sending him to grandmas for a weekend.
He has not been dx with asthma however he is on albuterol, flovent, steroids, and allergy meds to keep the inflammation down. He has never really had many problems since he was dx. Just more stomach problems not being able to digest foods. Once they dx him he was good. He cultured the psuedomonos once and they put him on the TOBI but he has cultured negative each time. He is only tested every 3-6 months because we are 4 hours from a CF dr. But he was sick in November and cultured neg and they did it again last month and it was neg. But it just seems that he did so much better on the TOBI. He never had problems. He never had a cough. Now he is tired all the time. His lung collapses often as well.
But we are hoping once the carpet is all gone it will help. Thanks again

Sorry its taken me this long to reply. We have been so busy and I just cant seem to get time to get to my computer. They culture him about every 3-6months regularly. However he has been cultured every other month lately because he has been in the hospital and his lung keeps collapsing. We live 4 hours from the CF clinic and we dont have any doctors here that handle CF. Our pediatrian is great and she is the one who found the CF but doesnt really like to treat or test him with CF problems. So she limits what she sees him for. However she keeps in great communication with our cf doc.
But he cultured negative last month. He is doing a lot better. But has been complaining that he feels he has a "TENNIS" ball in his chest. They did xrays and said it looks fine. He is also fatigued easily.

Yes we are mold free! We dont really have that problem here. We are dry as heck and in the dessert. I know that doesnt mean anything but we did have it tested.
