Were they talking about tobi nebulized or IV Tobi? Our experience with IV abx has usually been at least 10 days.

When DS first cultured pseudomonas, he was put on an oral abx as well as tobi nebulized twice a day for 28 days, then off for 28 days. Then after so many clear cultures, they're usually able to go off it again. And nebulized tobi was/is done at home.

If they said Tobi, then they mean inhaled drugs at home, twice a day after the vest. They also would most likely prescribe an oral antibiotic like cipro. That would probably be the most common protocol for a 4 yr old child with the first time pseudomonas. Some drs do hospitalize on IV's though. They would have specifically said hospitalization if they meant tobramycin IV's. Plus, the CF dr makes the call about being hospitalized. It is definitely not something that should interfere with the birth of your baby, If the dr wants to hospitalize it wouldn't hurt to do tobi for a month or so, then go in the hospital. My 7 yr old went on IV's in March when I had a two month old. I brought my infant in the hospital with us. It really was pretty easy. Congratulations on the birth of your upcoming baby! Try not to let this latest test result interfere with the exciting event ahead.
