Pulmonary Rehab is a great program.

I was required to join the Pulmonary Rehab program pre-transplant (April of 07) and I was in pretty sad shape when i started i was only able to do 4 minutes on the treadmil at a slow walking pace.

My O2 during excercise would drop into the low 60s and at rest was around 78 (without oxygen).

I was on 2.5 liters O2 at home and had to use 3.0 liters while working out.

As I said it was a requirement for Transplant and I had to stay in the program until 3 months post transplant. I opted to continue the program as I feel it benefits myself and others in rehab (encouragement).

I too was not happy about reaching the level of progression of having to be on oxygen 24/7 from no oxygen use. I knew that once I am on oxygen I am no longer maintaining the upper hand with my CF... I also felt uncomfortable (embarassed) about using oxygen in public... then one day something in my mind changed and I said this is the way things are and I don't care what others think.

I had my transplant 5 months ago and am feeling great... something I never thought I would say as I never thought I would get off oxygen.

Best of Luck to you <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
