Pulmozyme Not refrigerated

We just got back from a trip in which our flights got horribly messed up, and resulted in my daughter's pulmozyme being left unrefrigerated for over 24 hours. Do I have to toss it?

Jessica, We just lost power for over 4 days and just our Dr. the same question. They said after 24 hrs that it was no longer good. We are military and they are swapping our meds all out. I just picked up his 3 month supply too.

Yeah, with the heat as its been, I would think it is toast. If it were cooler out it might be ok.

The insert inside the pulmozyme says it cant be left unrefrigerated for 24hours. I wouldnt even let it go that long. Pulmozyme is so important for those with CF that if i think our home delivery pharmacy sent it any earlier than 12 hours after i get it I call to verify. Would hate to think I was doing all of my daughters meds only to have one not even be any good! Better safe than sorry.

I just had to deal with this as UPS did not deliver my medication on the set date from Genentech and I missed it. It was delivered the next day, but by then it had spoiled. Genentech had me return the spoiled vials and they sent out new ones Definitely do not use it.

Those blue icepacks that one can get at any store for camping use never last very long. I've found that the ice packs that the pharmacy use tend to last really long. The brand I have from CF Services Pharmacy were polarpac and I use them for travel. I've put one in a lunch bag cooler really early in the morning, flown, travelled by car and reached our destination in the later afternoon, early evening and it's still frozen.

I use the same ice packs my pulmozyme is delivered in to keep my meds cold. Just get a good cooler
