Pulmozyme yes or no

Is it really safe to use Pulmozyme? I did some research and the risks and side effects seem to be really scary. My DD is almost 5 never had lung involvment. I'm not sure I should start this medication now. We do vest 2x a day and use CREON 12. She hasn't cultured anything yet. She has been very healthy though I know things can change at any time. I want to be proactive with her treatments but is it really safe to use this medication?

Here some of the risks I found:

In addition to minor side effects and the risk of interactions, Pulmozyme has the potential to cause serious medical complications. In some cases, Pulmozyme has been linked to cardiovascular and respiratory problems, including heart failure, pneumonia and respiratory failure. Pulmozyme also increases blood sugar levels, triggering the development of Type 2 diabetes

Great question!!! I was wondering the same thing. My son is 10 mths & is showing the same symptoms (no real lung involvement). I can't wait to read what people write. I also read that there has been no studies done on children under 8 yrs.

Only thing I noticed when he started was that for the first time ever in his life his nose run. Prior to that his nose never ran -- has nasal mucus like cement. Basically the pulmonzyme liquifies the mucus. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

With any medication there can be side effects. I got freaked out when I read the product literature for DS' cipro when he had an upper respiratory infection
