Pulmozyme

Friday i went to my pharmacy to pick up pulmozyme i had ordered earlier in the week. When i got there it hadn't been stored in the fridge.I told them it would be no good now, so they apologised and said they would order me some more. (found out today someone got in major trouble as its so expensive and they wasted a months worth)

The thing i was worried about is, often i send Dave to pick up my drugs and he wouldn't have realised it was meant to be in the fridge, would have bought it home, i'd have shoved it in my fridge and then started using it.
I know its only stable 24hrs out of the fridge so just wondered what would have happened if that had been the case.

I did mention it at the pharmacy tonight so hopefully they will be more careful in future :frown

If that were the case, the pulmozyme probably didn't do you any harm, but probably wasn't as effective.

I imagine the pharmacy is going to be VERY careful from now on. I once stopped to pick up DS' pulmonzyme and it was sitting on the counter waiting for me. I'd called in script 3 days before and the assistant tried to tell me that it had JUST come in on their delivery. But it was warm, the packets were warm. I took her at her word -- 'cuz what could I have done other than tell her she was lying, but not before making a scene and it's never, ever been sitting out waiting for me since then. They always go get it from the fridge and it's cool.

Oh and the first few times after that incident, when I called in the script, I'd remind them that it needed to be kept in the fridge.

From what I remember, it gets cloudy if it's been out too long, so it is possible to tell... just not sure what it does/doesn't do if it's left out.

I dont know about that because I dont get my Pulmo from a local pharmacy. But if you are worried, try ordering from CF Services. I have place orders for Pulmo at 4 PM and I get it the next day...in a styrofoam cooler with tons of HUGE ice packs. Its always cold and they purposely put a rush on it, especially in the summer.

I have place orders for Pulmo at 4 PM and I get it the next day...in a styrofoam cooler with tons of HUGE ice packs. Its always cold and they purposely put a rush on it, especially in the summer.
