Pulmozyme

Just curious when you all do your Pulmozyme treatment. My daughter started a few months ago (she is only 5) to be proactive with her CF because she hasn't had many problems and we want to stay on top of things. I have noticed a difference and she is doing even better than before, but I am just wondering if there is a difference between morning and night treatments.

Thanks!!<img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

It depends on where I am. When I'm home, I choose to do it in the morning because that's less for me to try to work into my treatment at night when I'm tired. When I'm hospitalized, they usually give it to me around 5 in the evening. I seem to recall a long time ago that my doctor told me specifically to do it in the morning, though, because it could cause trouble sleeping, mostly to do with restlessness. If your daughter chooses to do the Pulmozyme at night, you might just want to make sure that she does it a few hours before she goes to bed.

Hey!

My name is Alyssa and I am 16 years old with CF. I have been doing pulmozyme for about two years now... When I first started pulmozyme it was definatly the best thing thats ever happened to my medicine collection! I love it. Anyways, I do my pulmozyme at night, right after I do my Albuterol (Both through the Neb). Good Luck!

I give my son his Pulmozyme at night. I used to give it to him in the AM. In the hospital they always do it early in the morning. Just recently he cultured psuedomonas, and I noticed that he was having a hard time breathing while he was sleeping, and he was having awful coughing fits that were keeping us both up. So I switched it to night time, and now we are both sleeping much better. It's hard to do it at night because it is late and I am tired, but with that and his CPT he falls sound asleep in no time.

You know if he's in the hospital, and you tell him that he does his Pulmo at night, they *should* adjust to your time schedule. When I go in, they ask when I do it, and then have someone come by at the correct time.

When I was in the hospital they were giving it to me with my 10pm meds which is the routine med time for patients. At home I used in with my morning treatment. I feet like I get more out of it in the morning. I had them change it to the morning like I do at home. It made a difference with what I brought up during the day & I slept better (as best as you can in a hospital) at night!

We have been doing my daughters around 5 to 6 pm every night. It is interesting to me that most of you all do it in the morning. Do you do it in the morning because it is easier or because works better?
Thanks,

I take Pulmozyme BID, early morning and late evening due to my work schedule. I guess the morning treatment does more for me than the evening. I feel pretty crappy every morning(just the physiology of sleep I imagine) and a good pulmozyme/xopenex cocktail always gets me going.

Kait is 9 years old and has been doing her pulmozyme at bedtime now for about 5 years, she goes right to sleep and she seems to sleep pretty good.
