Pulmozyme

Hi all

I've very recently started nebulising Pulmozyme, a week ago to be exact.

Liz, I know you have been using it for about a month now and i know many others on this site have been using it for years and find it really beneficial.

I've read a little bit of research on what it does and how long it takes to see results and a rise in lung function, and if i'm reading correctly, it seems in general that people don't start seeing effects until about 3 months of use, once a day.

Unfortunately our Pharmac down here are a bunch of plonkers and in all their wisdom give it us initially for one month only, and unless we show a lung function improvement of at least 10% in that first month, we don't get any more.

What i want to know is - how soon do most of you start to see results? Improvement in lung function? Coughing up more phlegm? Anything else to make you think it is working?

So far i'm not seeing much of a change with my coughing or phlegm output........

Thanks in advance!
Kat

My daughter trialed this twice the first time she only made an 8% improvement so she didn't get to stay on it. and the second time she trialed it a few years later and had no improvement. She trialed them both times for a month. Maybe they should give ppl 3 months to see if it does work better. Though she was coughing heaps more after she finished it.

It took me quite a few months to see actual improvement health wise tho I saw an almost immediate difference with how easy/hard it was to bring the mucous up. IMHO it would take a bit to get thru the different layers of crud that has built up especially if one hasnt been aggressive with treatments. This seems logical to me, but evidentally not to all people.
