Erin started Pulmozyme about 4 months ago & is doing GREAT. In her 4 short years, it seems that spring & fall are hard for her. She has an asthma component to her cf and has allergies. With all of the drainage, she usually gets sick and then it can turn into an infection. She started pulmozyme in March and did wonderful this spring. She still had drainage and the beginnings of a cough, but seems to beat it much easier. We just started her on albuterol, increased her flovent and cpt and she did not get sick! I think pulmozyme is the reason, because that is the only thing that she changed in her maintenance meds.

I am confused about Pulmozyne and whether to continue using it with
my 23 month old. I asked that he be put on it b/c I thought it
would be a great maintenance drug to thin the mucous. However, we
just got back from the CF clinic in Minnesota and met with Dr
Warwick (supposedly the best in the US) as far as his stats.
Although he says Pulmozyne is a good drug, he rarely prescribes it
for his patients. Now I don't know whether to continue or stop. The
AVERAGE age at Minnesota is 50, much higher than national.<br>

Our local CF doctor put DS on pulmozyme 'cuz all his other patients are on it, so when we asked our CF Doctor in the City, his response was that he supposed it wouldn't hurt, most of his patients aren't on it and are very healthy and those that are on it are just as healthy -- so the verdict was out. Doesn't Dr. Warick have some other recipe that his patients use -- mucomyst and some bronchiodiolators?

Our doughter is on Pulmo for 3years(she 'll have 7 on29 this month!) .She is fine except spring and autumn when her nose is always full. This week we visit our doc and she tell us if we want to stop Pulmmo for 2months and then Ada will give tobramicin free 2 years.She never took tobra only gentamicin and ,oh,she is doing sporadic her CPT! There is no vest!
