My advice....
Obtain an Ambry box. We got ours from the CF clinic. If it does not have the tube to put the blood in, call and ask which tube it needs to be in, as it needs to be in a specific one as the blood will be sent off and will need to be able to keep for a while.
Have your pediatrician start the orders now. Your pediatrician will most likely need to obtain on okay from your insurance company first, as Ambry will not test the blood until they have insurance approval. if you don't have approval first, then the blood will most likely be to old by the time you get a response for the test to actually work.
Your pediatrician will need to sign off on the ambry paperwork, so make sure the pediatrician visiting your baby at the hospital knows about this.
I agree with taking blood from the vein and not the umbilical cord.
We ended up having so much trouble with doctors approving the test, at the hospital, although we had another child with CF, that we were not able to get the test done for like 3-4 weeks after Caleb's birth.
Please ask more questions if you need to!!! You want those first wonderful days to be as free from stress as possible.

missa
P.S.
Have you thought about getting a life insurance policy for your baby when she is born. Knowing that once our child would be diagnosed with CF that it would be nearly impossible to get life insurance on him, we had a policy set up and ready to sign just days after he was born and prior to his diagnosis.
