Question about coconut oil?

I actually started out giving my oldest 1/2 whole milk and 1/2 half and half. But I have now moved on to something still homemade, but much healthier and nutritious.
1st, are you giving formula in the bottle or just whole milk?????
2nd, I think the coconut oil may solidify in the bottle. My experience as of yet, is that once it hits cold stuff, it solidifies and gets left in the bottle. I am looking into a different brand though and will update you if that changes.
3rd, you may want to consider coconut milk instead of the half and half. I have actually eliminated milk from my kids diet. They do get cheese and stuff, but no cow's milk. I figure even if some people say it doesn't cause mucus, why take the chance.
4th, you can also try the other oils. I add flax seed oil to Ethan's drink and actually found it quite cheap on line. You could try also hemp seed oil or olive oil. Those are the only one's I would try though, with regard to healthiness.
Please let me know if I could be of further help.
Blessings,
Missa

I would call the manufacture there is normally an 800 number on the container. make sure it is natural and pressed properly.

We actually buy shelled hemp seed nut and grind it up ( I usually mix warm water brown rice syrup, acidophillus, and the hemp seed nut into a blender ( magic bullet) and grind them all together, you wan to grind the seed with something liquid to use the oils. I then add that mix to his container of milk that he gets..

with the hemp seed nut I know they recommend a tablespoon for every 50 pds. a day.

Taking a lot of coconut oil can cause diarrhea. So I would start small and work my way up. Maybe start with 1/4 teaspoon and see how he tolerates that. Then increase it be 1/4 teaspoon each time until you are up to around a teaspoon and see how that does.

I never did this with a baby, so I may be completely off the mark. I'm just saying I would be a little cautious because severe diarrhea is no fun for baby or mom.

We used 1 Tbsp per 8 ounces for our daughter when she was around 2.5 - 3.5 years old. We have been using canola recently bc she wants her milk cold now. The coconut oil hardens when it gets colder (as you cn tell since it is fairly solid at room temp). My daughter used to like her milk mixture warmed up, now she likes it cold so the coconut oil doesn't work.

Either way, coconut or canola, this is much better than using scandishakes bc those have WAY too much transfat, scary high amounts of transfat.
